About

Who We Are

EcoVision, the trading name of Energy Communities Tipperary Cooperative CLG, is a not-for-profit, community led, energy upgrade and retrofitting organisation.

Here at EcoVision, we provide a One Stop Shop service which takes the hassle out of your energy upgrade. We leverage grants from SEAI, source contractors and oversee all aspects of your project, taking the hassle out of retrofitting your home or business.

We support homeowners, businesses and communities in counties Tipperary, Clare and Limerick.

Mission Statement

EcoVision has as its main object the long-term social transformation of member communities in Tipperary and beyond, by carrying out energy conservation and generation projects, both large scale and micro, using community development processes, to build member capacity, create local investment and employment, and achieve regional energy self-sufficiency.

Our vision is that EcoVision will provide a comprehensive One-Stop-Shop for communities to assist them in successfully maximising their energy efficiency.

Our Journey

More than a decade ago, a simple conversation in a village hall sparked the beginning of EcoVision, Energy Communities Co-op. Back in 2012/2013, we took our first steps with a pilot project, retrofitting homes in the Drombane/Upperchurch community in rural Tipperary.

The success of that initiative caught on, and soon other communities were eager to replicate the community approach to energy upgrades. In 2014, Energy Communities Tipperary Cooperative CLG (ECTC) was formed, bringing together four communities to embark on energy efficiency projects for older homes and community buildings. Thanks to grants from the SEAI under the Better Energy Communities scheme, we transformed 111 houses and 2 community buildings, securing a grant of €643k and achieving an impressive 1GWh in energy savings.

Building on this achievement, ECTC was officially founded in 2015, and has since grown to include 15 communities. Our board, a team of dedicated volunteer directors from participating communities and organisations like North Tipperary Development Company (NTDC), steered us toward continued success.

As the years rolled by, our footprint extended into the neighbouring counties of Limerick and Clare. To better reflect our diverse membership and simplify our identity, we opted for a new name in 2023. The name EcoVision represents our commitment to building energy communities of vision.
