We are delighted to announce the launch of our latest project, RENPOWER, funded by EU Life, marking a significant step towards fostering energy democracy and addressing the pressing issue of energy poverty. At EcoVision, we believe in empowering homeowners who have been excluded from the energy retrofitting process, and RENPOWER is designed to provide the tools and support needed to enhance the energy efficiency of their homes.
A Decade of Community Support
For over ten years, we have been at the forefront of assisting households and communities across Ireland through innovative community development models. Our extensive experience has shown that many households are often left out of retrofitting projects due to financial constraints and lack of access to necessary resources. RENPOWER aims to change this by creating comprehensive, citizen-led home renovation services, making energy upgrades accessible to everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
International Collaboration for a Just Energy Transition
RENPOWER is a collaborative effort between us and GoiEner in the Basque Country, Spain. The project is designed to create replicable models for home energy renovation, ensuring a fair and equitable energy transition. We bring our expertise in citizen-led renovations, while GoiEner contributes its experience in combating energy poverty. Supported by 12 agencies across Ireland, including local government, community development organizations, and third-level institutions, this network of partners is set to bring about energy democracy.
Tailored Financing for Vulnerable Households
One of the standout features of RENPOWER is its focus on developing financing mechanisms specifically designed to assist vulnerable households. By working with social lenders, credit unions, and ethical banks, RENPOWER aims to fill the gaps left by existing grants and loan schemes. This approach ensures that even those with limited financial means can undertake essential renovations, promoting inclusivity and fairness in the energy transition.
