Our Member Communities
Our Energy Community Members come from across Ireland.
EcoVision (formerly ECTC) began life in 2014 as a local development initiative, as four communities came together to carry out energy efficiency works on older houses and community buildings, following a pilot project in Drombane Upperchurch in Tipperary in 2012/2013, leveraging grants from the SEAI under the Better Energy Communities scheme.
The organisation has grown over the years and now has community partners in Tipperary, Limerick and Clare and continues to grow. These Community Partners provide the majority of the voluntary Board of Directors.
With this success, EcoVision was formally founded in 2015 and grew to include 15 energy communities. The board of EcoVision is made up of unpaid, volunteer directors from the participating communities
The board of directors is made of unpaid volunteers from diverse backgrounds and geographical locations, bringing a wide range of skills and experience. When specific work is required, sub-committees are formed to meet virtually, carry out tasks, and report back to the full board with recommendations, ensuring transparent and accountable decision-making.
Directors maintain a two-way communication channel with local community energy teams, sharing updates and bringing community feedback to the board. Community members are also encouraged to attend board meetings, strengthening representation and trust.
A dedicated Project Manager coordinates project delivery, paperwork, and liaison with relevant parties to ensure Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) standards and deadlines are met. The significant volunteer time contributed each year reflects the strong cooperation, commitment, and belief in the scheme among participating Energy Community members across Ireland.
