Press Release: EcoVision Joins Forces with CYPSC and LCDC to Launch the Engage in Energy Project

Tipperary, 25/10/2024 – EcoVision, a community-led not-for-profit organisation, is proud to announce its collaboration with the Tipperary Children and Young People’s Services Committee (CYPSC) and Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) to launch the Engage in Energy project. This initiative aims to alleviate childhood poverty by addressing energy challenges in severely disadvantaged homes across Tipperary town and Roscrea.

As part of the Engage in Energy project, EcoVision will focus on improving energy efficiency in homes where families are experiencing energy poverty, a key factor in poor living conditions. Through education on sustainable energy practices, financial support for minor energy enhancements and help with applications for further home energy upgrades, the project will help reduce energy costs and improve the well-being of vulnerable households.

EcoVision’s Role and Impact

EcoVision will lead the energy support for disadvantaged homes. Alongside minor physical improvements, EcoVision will deliver behavioural change programmes, equipping families with the knowledge and tools to better manage their energy use in the long term.

EcoVision will offer more than just advice – we provide personalised energy management plans for every household we assess. This support includes:

  • Home Assessment: Examining living conditions and identifying opportunities to save energy.
  • Behavioural Assessment: Analysing individual energy usage patterns.
  • Home Modifications: Implementing small energy-saving measures and helping households access funding for larger efficiency upgrades.
  • Tailored Advice: Offering solutions tailored to each household’s specific needs and vulnerabilities.

“We are thrilled to join forces with CYPSC and LCDC for this important project,” said Máirtín Ó Méalóid, General Manager of EcoVision. “By focusing on energy efficiency, we are tackling a crucial aspect of poverty that affects the health, comfort, and future prospects of children and families.”

The collaboration between EcoVision, CYPSC, and LCDC ensures a holistic approach to tackling energy poverty. This partnership brings together expertise in community development, social services, and sustainable energy solutions to maximise the project’s impact.

The Engage in Energy project represents EcoVision’s continued commitment to fighting climate change and addressing the social inequalities faced by disadvantaged families. By making homes more energy-efficient, EcoVision, CYPSC, and LCDC are not only reducing energy costs but also providing families with the tools to build a healthier and more sustainable future.
